About Me
I didn't start this blog a year ago simply to have a place to put my words. I started this blog so that I could connect to others through writing.
It started with the most terrifying few minutes of my life. Despite my fears of sharing that story, I felt a stronger urge to give other parents a chance to avoid the same experience I had. That little blog post about that terrifying evening ended up making the viral rounds; with my hope being that there are many more parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and caregivers who are CPR and choking relief trained as a result of it.
Since hitting that first "publish" button a year ago, it has been exciting to expand my writing beyond the walls of this blog. You can find me now on A Fine Parent, Scary Mommy, and Huffington Post. I am a content contributor for Moms Beyond, and have had work published in the Lancaster Newspaper and Shoreline Young Magazine. I love to write about my own personal circumstances as a human; but I also love to share the perspectives of those around me in an attempt to capture experiences different from my own.
So who am I?
I'm a mother. I'm a behavior specialist by profession. I'm a mother who fails miserably as a behavior specialist at home.
I'm a wife. I'm a daughter, a sister, a friend.
I'm an athlete who is a hell of a lot slower than I used to be.
I have 3 c-section scars, laid beautifully on top of one another.
I'm a divorcee and a co-parent.
I'm a perfectionist. I'm Monica from Friends with the secret messy closet.
I'm sarcastic by nature, but not always happy with my husband when he is.
I curse a lot in my head throughout the course of a day. I'm not always so great at filtering it.
So maybe you are here because we are Facebook friends and you followed my link out of curiosity or courtesy. Maybe you're here because reading about my parenting fails make you feel like you are doing just fine. Maybe you just need a laugh.
Regardless of why you are here, please know that I appreciate your presence!
